Surrey 2024

Fri 19 - Sun 21 April 2024 - Deep Rest & De-stress

Fintry is a retreat house with its own beautiful and extensive grounds, set in the Surrey hills. The atmosphere of the house and grounds has been maintained for 70 years in order to promote philosophical and spiritual development. This is a place to retreat from the world and enjoy the beautiful walks on your doorstep in your free time.

Deep Rest weekend - A perfect weekend to de-stress. The weekend will commence with tea and cake at 3.30pm on the Friday afternoon, followed by an introduction to the weekend and a restorative yoga practice to settle and help us arrive. We will start the days with meditation and a movement based yoga practice. There will be free time in the morning to go off and walk in nature or simply rest with a good book. After lunch on Saturday there will be a long restorative practice. We will be holding silence from 10pm until breakfast the following day.

Please note that part of this venue's charm is its rustic quality. If you are looking for a five star accommodation this is not the venue for you! If you love to walk, enjoy tranquillity and simplicity this is the retreat for you.

Teachers:
Joyce

Group:

Maximum 10 people on Deep Rest Weekend.

Arrive at 3.30pm and depart at 2.30pm after lunch.

Accommodation:
One of the reasons that we choose this venue was so that everyone could have a single room, but you can book a twin and share if you prefer. Twin rooms are naturally slightly bigger. Rates are the same for everyone. All rooms share bathrooms but there are lots of bathrooms!

Price:
£500/person. To reserve your space you will need to pay £100 non-refundable deposit. The balance will be due 6 weeks before the weekend. Yoga, meditation, philosophy, food, accommodation are included in the price.

Travel:
If you are travelling by train from London I would suggest that you take the train departing London Waterloo for Godalming at 14.30 which arrives at 15.09.

There is a taxi rank at the station and also a company called Clocktower Cars which has an office in the carpark.  When you get off the train have a look around and hopefully you will see some other people attending the retreat who you can share a taxi to the venue with.  The taxi should cost £20.

On return we will share a taxi to Guildford. Please book the 15.05 train leaving from Guilford train station to London Waterloo, arriving at 15.44.

If you are travelling from elsewhere or by a different mode of transport please aim to arrive at the venue between 3.30pm and 4pm and depart at 2.30pm.

Covid 19/Travel insurance:

If this retreat cannot go ahead due to Covid 19 your money would be fully transferable or refundable. Please make sure you take out comprehensive travel insurance when booking which covers you if you need to cancel your place.

Excluded:
Travel insurance and transport to and from the venue.

France 2024

Thursday 13 June – Tuesday 18 June 2024 - Ashtanga Retreat

We are running a five day Ashtanga retreat in a simply stunning venue which is suitable for beginners and experienced practitioners are welcome.

Our venue is 1km away from the market town of Quissac in the Languedoc region of southern France. It provides luxurious boutique accommodation, nestled in the heart of some of the most spectacular scenery of the south of France and the food is fabulous!

The expansive swimming pool (96m²) is set into the hillside above the accommodation, enjoying views in all directions across the rolling hillside. A large flagstone terrace and shade-speckled decking surround the pool. From the doorstep you can walk for miles enjoying the beautiful wild countryside and wild swimming in the many rivers. In the early evenings, buzzards drift in the warm air currents searching for prey over the Coutach mountain. As the night draws in, the cicadas subside and the sound of scops owls can be heard. We will be sleeping in beautifully restored houses each with their own fully equipped kitchen allowing you to make that perfect pre-practice cuppa and mid day snack.

On Saturday afternoon there is no class, providing an opportunity to visit local towns and markets, walk to the lovely town of Sauve (90 minutes walk each way), book a lovely lunch somewhere or simply hang out by the pool and relax.

Teachers:
Joyce and Marcos

Group:
Maximum 20 people.

Timings:
Arrive from 4pm (first class is at 5.45pm), check-out of rooms at 10am and depart by 11am. Please do not arrive at the venue before 4pm

Travel:
The closest airports are Montpellier and Nimes but you could also fly into Beziers or Marseille. Transfers can be arranged at an additional charge; if people are on the same flight transfers will be cheaper. A return transfer from Montpellier airport is €45 Euros/person (minimum of 3 people in car) or €60/person (if less than 3 people in car).

  • Montpellier Airport - 45 minutes

  • Nimes Airport - 45 minutes

  • Beziers Airport - 1 hour 20 minutes

  • Marseille Airport - 1 hour 45 minutes

If flying…
Please use skyscanner.net to help figure out the best route for you. If flying from London we recommend that you take the Easyjet flight departing Gatwick at 12.55 arriving 15.45, and return on the BA flight leaving at 21.00 arriving 21.55.

If requiring a transfer you will be dropped in the centre of Montpellier on the last day. You can leave luggage in lockers at the train station and there is a shuttle bus which takes 15 minutes from the centre to the airport. It is a nice opportunity to see the city, have a lovely lunch out and do a bit of shopping before taking the flight back to London.

If travelling by train…
If you prefer not to fly, Nîmes train station is less than one hour away from the venue. From London take the Eurostar to Paris (Gare de Nord) and then Paris Gare de Lyon to Nîmes Centre. Please ensure you book Nîmes Centre. Alternatively you can take the train to Montpellier. There is a train leaving London St Pancras at 07.01 which arrives into Montpellier at 15.00 and a train leaving Montpellier at 15.47 which arrives into London St Pancras at 22.30.

Accommodation & Price:
There is a good mix of rooms (see below). The four Superior Premium Double rooms have baths and showers and are larger in size. While most rooms are en-suite, there is one double and one twin-bedded room which share a bathroom. Some rooms have their own bathroom but adjacent to the bedroom. We are really keen to accommodate people who would like their own room - our starting point is therefore to offer four rooms/retreat as single occupancy but we will offer more or less depending on the demand/availability at time of request. We always recommend that you book early if you are looking for a single room. To reserve your space you will need to pay £350 non-refundable deposit. The balance will be due on 12 March 2024. Book by 1 October 2023 and save 15%.

Single occupancy:
Standard Double or Twin (shared bathroom) - £1095 (until 1 October 2023 then £1250)
Premium Double en-suite - £ 1125 (until 1 October 2023 then £1290) Superior Premium Double en-suite - £1250 (until 1 October 2023 then £1290)

Double occupancy per person:
Standard Double or Twin (shared bathroom) - £940/person (until 1 October 2023 then £1080)
Premium Twin en-suite - £975/person - (until 1 October 2023 then £1120)
Premium Double en-suite - £975/person - (until 1 October 2023 then £1120)
Superior Premium Double en-suite - £1150/person (until 1 October 2023 then £1320)

There is also a house which has two small premium double rooms and two bathrooms but the bathrooms are not inside the rooms; you can decide which room uses which bathroom and effectively have your own bathroom. From a pricing perspective these rooms are considered en-suite. If you are two couples travelling together then you might be able to take over this whole house. All bedrooms are to an exceptional standard but do vary in size. Smaller premium double rooms will be allocated where possible to those travelling alone.
