our story

We are yoga practitioners and bodyworkers who practice, study and enquire every day. We help people to transform their lives and enable them to stay healthy physically and mentally, no matter what life throws at them.

Joyce has been practising and studying yoga since 2001 and started teaching in 2007.  She is a KPJAYI Authorised Ashtanga teacher, holds an accreditation from the British Wheel of Yoga, is a senior restorative yoga teacher, a soft tissue & remedial massage therapist and a registered teacher with the British Association of Mindfulness-based Approaches.

Having spent many years going back and forth to India she developed a keen interest in the philosophy and the roots of yoga. In 2018 she was awarded an MA with distinction in the Traditions of Yoga from London University’s School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS).  Her dissertation compared Patanjali Yoga Sutras with Mainstream Buddhism and showed how Brahmanical and Buddhist traditions have informed each other over the years. Joyce has trained in various massage techniques and has a BTEC Level 5 Professional Diploma in Soft Tissue Therapy from the London School of Sports Massage (LSSM). Over the years her love for the yoga practice and intelligent use of the body has grown stronger day by day.

Joyce teaches Ashtanga yoga according to the traditional method (Mysore self-practice and led Sanskrit counted classes) and likes to make the practice accessible to everyone irrespective of age, experience or fitness levels, and offers slow, alignment focused Open Yoga classes.  She teaches weekly meditation classes and the eight-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction course. She specialises in teaching Restorative Yoga which activates the Parasympathetic Nervous System and promotes a feeling of deep rest and relaxation and offers a Teacher Training in Restorative Yoga.  All classes and yoga retreats draw on the traditional yoga texts for inspiration.

She has been practising with Sharath Jois in Mysore, India, since 2007, but her practice and teaching has been informed primarily by Richard Freeman, Rolf Naujokat, Alaric Newcombe, Judith Hanson Laster, Rod Stryker and Shri.O. P. Tiwari.

KPJAYI Authorised level I teacher, Yoga Alliance Senior teacher and BTEC Level 5 Soft Tissue & Remedial Massage therapist by the London School of Sports Massage.

Growing up in Asturias in the North of Spain, Marcos has always felt a strong connection with nature and was an avid rock climber throughout his twenties. Life brought  Marcos to yoga and meditation in 2003. In 2006 he walked into a Mysore style class and instantly felt that the missing piece in a jigsaw had just been presented to him. In December 2008, on the recommendation of his teacher he made his first trip to Mysore, India to study with Sharath Rangaswamy at KPJAYI. Since then he has made several trips to India to deepen his practice.

Marcos now lives in London teaching Ashtanga Yoga and providing massage treatments to people with injuries and conditions. He brings a desire to help others, a healthy interest in anatomy and a meditative quality to his classes and massage practice. Marcos continues to climb and be amazed by the power of ashtanga and its potential to transform lives. He feels deep gratitude to all his teachers; past and present.
